THE AMY LANGLEY, HISTORY:
Forget The Von Trapps – there’s a new musical family giving them a run for their money. For Coronation Street star Bruno Langley comes from a musical tribe of eight brothers and sisters, all of whom are talented musicians.
Amy Langley, Cellist, String arranger, Composer and founder of Dirty Pretty Strings and Ruby Music LTD, who studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, also manages all the bands under their Ruby Music agency.
Amy Royal has a Bachelor’s Degree, Music Performance from Academy of Music, U. of London.
She says: “We all grew up with music, and we originally all played string instruments, which is how we started our string quartet. We’ve always been really busy in the pop world working as session musicians and on shows like Later with Jools Holland and Strictly Come Dancing.
“But in 2008 my sister Gita started the Langley Sisters as they thought it would be nice to do their own thing as singers. We all love the music of the 1940s and the Andrews Sisters, and and live it all sounds amazing. It’s really important for the group to be choreographed and have a strong image.” Music even follows the girls in their personal lives. For Gita is married to singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt, while Edie’s boyfriend is The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things star Carl Barat.
Meanwhile Bruno’s sisters Gita, Amy, Rosie and Edie have been working professionally on the music scene for eight years now as the string quartet, while The Langley Sisters band started in 2008.
Amy played the cellon on Jeff Lynne's ELO on the "Alone in the Universe" tour in 2016.
